Pencil message on the reverse of the
photograph of the starboard outer engine
This message was written in pencil on the back of the original of the photograph
of the starboard outer engine
(Photograph No.1), and is assumed to have been written by Mr. R Braybrook,
Press Officer, Ministry of Avation
before the photograph was loaned to the BBC for their programme 'History of
Television' in 1966.
The message reads: 'Return to: Mr Braybrook, Ministry of Aviation Press Officer,
Ministry of Defence, Whitehall'
and under this are the lines 'Halifax crash June 7 1942. This photograph is
irreplaceable'.
This photograph has NEVER been published before and has been missing for the last 61 years.
