Thin Armour Plating

This is a piece of thinner armour plating (now severely rusted). It would have been found on the outer skin of the wings,

the body skin, and parts of the tailplane of the aircraft. It may also have been on the bomb-bay doors or even

the undercarriage assembly. Clearly you can see where each plate was rivetted togther (two rivet holes can be seen).

It was found at the crash site of Halifax V9977 at a depth of 8 inches (19cm) and was one of the last pieces recovered.
