Heavy Armour Plating
This is a piece of heavy armour plating (now severely rusted). It would have been found in a Halifax such as V9977 in places
such as the back of the pilot's seat, the bomb bay area, just below the main wing spar and below the engine mountings.
The piece of metal is heavy and jagged, but was obviously torn to pieces in the impact following the crash. It was found at the
crash site of Halifax V9977 at a depth of 9 inches (22cm) and was one of the last pieces recovered.
